Record supplementary feeding events

Keep a record of the type and quanity of supplementary feed used and keep your feed inventory records up to date in FarmIQ.

You can see your supplementary feed events in the Supplementary feed usage report.

If you record batch information in a supplementary feeding event, the quantity used is automatically recorded in the Product inventory report.

Warning

Using bales

If you want to feed out using bales, before you record the supplimentary feed event, you must add your own feed products to FarmIQ or record a harvest, specifying that the product Supports bales and that the Unit type is Bales.

If you are maintaining a stock reconciliation in FarmIQ, record supplementary feeding events using an EID file, by tally or using EID or VID tags.
If you are not maintaining a stock rec in FarmIQ, record supplementary feeding events by describing stock.

To record supplementary feeding events...

using an EID file click here
using an EID file:
  1. On the Navigation bar, click Stock > Health & breeding > Supplementary feeding.
  2. If the System asks if you have a file or visual ID, click Yes. Otherwise, click Add tags.

    • Select the file from the computer or tag library.
  3. If the System shows that there are unregistered tags or errors on the file, you must deal with them before continuing.
  4. Select the feed dates

    For a one day event, select... For a multi day event, select...
    Single day then... Multi day then... 
    • Click the calendar.
    • Select the date.
      • You can select a future date.
    • Select the Time of day.
    • Click the calendar.
    • Select all the dates for this event.
      • Dates need not be consecutive
      • You can select future dates. 
    • Click Continue.
    • Select the Time of day.

  5. Check or change the animal selection.

    The animals in the file are grazing off for the date selected.

    If there is a Select a mob dropdown box click here

    ...and you know which mob the animals with these tags are in:
    • Select the mob from the dropdown list.
      • The tags will be linked to this mob when you save this event.
      • If the mob does not appear in the list, there are no animals in that mob with the same traits as those on the tags. Follow the procedure for you do not know which mob the animals with these tags are in, below. 
    • Select the tags and animals for the event:

  6. Feeding details.

    •  If you are feeding out more than one feed type or batch, select the number of feed types or batches in Number of feed types
    • For each feed type or batch, select the Feed type and Feed name and enter Total fed.
      • If you have selected a feed product with a unit type of bales, enter the number of bales under Total fed and this number will be multiplied by the Dry weight of bale to determine Total fed (kg/day).
    • To select a batch:
      • choose the batch from the dropdown box or
      • click add a batch
  7. Costs.

    • Select the Type and enter Total.
      • Other fields are optional.
      • To add more costs click Add another cost.
  1. If required, record additional Notes or upload Attachments.
  2. Click Save.
    • The System confirms that the activity has been saved.

  3. Choose whether to select the stock by mob, paddock or From grazing off stock.
  4. Select the feed dates

    For a one day event, select... For a multi day event, select...
    Single day then... Multi day then... 
    • Click the calendar.
    • Select the date.
      • You can select a future date.
    • Select the Time of day.
    • Click the calendar.
    • Select all the dates for this event.
      • Dates need not be consecutive
      • You can select future dates. 
    • Click Continue.
    • Select the Time of day.

  5. Select the animals. You can select multiple mobs or paddocks. 
  6. Click the mob name to view the details of each mob.

    •  If you are feeding out more than one feed type or batch, select the number of feed types or batches in Number of feed types
    • For each feed type or batch, select the Feed type and Feed name and enter Total fed.
      • If you have selected a feed product with a unit type of bales, enter the number of bales under Total fed and this number will be multiplied by the Dry weight of bale to determine Total fed (kg/day).
    • To select a batch:
      • choose the batch from the dropdown box or
      • click add a batch

    • To help identify the correct animals you can Show mob.

    • Select the checkbox for the Stock classBreed, Mob and Revenue group combination required.

    • Click OK. 
      If your Favourite does not include a mob, you can select or create a mob for the animals in this activity.
    have not added or used this stock class and breed in FarmIQ  before
    or 
    don't want to use favourites.
    click Add more animals 
     
    and use the dropdown boxes to select:
    • Stock class as at the date of the event
    • Breed. If you can't see the breed, click the plus sign.

      See Select a breed.
    • Mob or you can create a mob.
    • Revenue groups, if they are turned on.
  5. To add more animals, click Add favourite or Add more animals.
  6. Enter the tallies.
  7. Feeding details.

    •  If you are feeding out more than one feed type or batch, select the number of feed types or batches in Number of feed types
    • For each feed type or batch, select the Feed type and Feed name and enter Total fed.
