Dealing with EID tag errors

When using an EID file from your computer or your tag library the system may reject some or all of the tags and show an error message. The reasons why and how to handle the errors are outlined below.

Information
  • It’s important to check your indicator or wand has been set up to allow the correct transfer of tag information. See Column headers for EID files and Life data codes for EID files for more information.
  • Alternatively contact the manufacturer of the Indicator for information on how to set your equipment up.

Resolving EID tag errors

When using an EID file from your computer or tag library to record an event the System shows the number of valid tags and any tag errors.

Unregistered tags

If there are unregistered tags in the file, you need to deal with them first.  Do one of the following:

  • If the tags belong to animals that are already in FarmIQ, click Register tags to link the tags to a mob.
  • If the tags belong to animals that are not in FarmIQ, cancel this event and record a Birth, Purchase or Find stock event to bring those animals into your stock reconciliation.
  • Click Ignore and continue to proceed without registering these animals.

Tag errors

  1. If there are no unregistered tags and you still see the tags error alert, click tags error. The EID file contents window appears.
  2. Hover the cursor over the error symbol in the Status column to see why the tag has been rejected.
  • There may be more than one reason for errors on the file, so check several error symbols.
  1. Make a note of the errors.
  2. Leave the EID file contents window open and use the table below to help you resolve the errors.
  3. When you have dealt with all errors, close the EID file contents window and continue recording your event.

How to handle EID tag errors

Check for the error on the table below and follow the hints to resolve it.

  • If the error is not on this table, or you are unsure what to do, please contact Support.
  • If the error on the file is not corrected the system will not record the event against the tag.
