Measure distances and areas on the map

Use the measuring tool to measure distances or calculate areas. This tool has many uses, for example if you want to plan fence maintenance or need to know the size of an area inside a paddock.

It is easier to be accurate with your measurements if you zoom in to the map.

Move around the farm map and zoom in or out using your mouse, trackpad or the controls shown below:

To measure a distance or area on the map:

  1. Click Measure on the bottom, right corner of the screen.

  • Your mouse pointer has a red circle around its tip.
  1. Click the start of the distance or area you want to measure. Then click the map whenever the line or boundary you are measuring changes direction.
  • To measure the area of a shape, place the end point on the start point. The single mouse pointer changes to a four pointed arrow when you are close enough.
  • The System shows the distance of each section, the total length and, if you have measured it, the total area.

  1. Use the Windows Snipping Tool or a screen shot to save the measurements.
